Two more to extend contracts at Liverpool

Liverpool youngsters Jay Spearing and Stephen Darby are set to sign new contracts with the club, according to Sky Sports.

It is understood that both Merseyside born players are part of Rafa Benitez’s future plans and the Spanish manager is offering them both new three year contracts, with one year remaining on the current deals.

Spearing, 20, made brief appearances for the Reds last season including as a substitute against Real Madrid.

Darby, 20, also broke into the first team last season at full-back.

In March this year Benitez confirmed that he would offer both Spearing and Darby new contracts for their impressive work since being promoted from the Youth Academy in 2006.

Sky Sports claim, ‘œThe duo are expected to put pen-to-paper on the contracts next week when Liverpool return for pre-season training.’
