According to Portuguese media Liverpool failed with a £19m bid for Atletico Madrid’s Simao Sabrosa on the closing day of the transfer window.
Simao was heavily linked with a move to Anfield a few years back – so much so that allegedly a £12m fee with Benfica was once agreed until Rick Parry’s incompetence got in the way.
The question is now whether Rafa Benitez would be willing to pay £19m for a 29 year-old? Surely not would be most people’s answer to that, particularly given the financial doubts surrounding Liverpool thesedays.
I reckon this is a case of the media having not a lot to report, especially given the transfer window now being closed and the boring international break this week!
