Liverpool have been dealt a blow with the news that winger Albert Riera looks set to miss this week’s crunch games at home to Lyon and Manchester United.
The Spanish international picked up a hamstring injury during training at the weekend and will now undergo tests to determine how long he must rest for.
Riera was an unused substitute for Liverpool’s 1-0 defeat to Sunderland at the weekend. He joins Fernando Torres and Alberto Aquilani on the Reds’ treatment table.
It is understood Riera could be set to miss both tonight’s game and Sunday’s Premier League showdown against arch rivals Man United.
The Reds do however welcome back captain Steven Gerrard for tonight’s clash against Lyon at Anfield.
Gerrard missed Saturday’s game at Sunderland after picking up a groin strain whilst on international duty for England.
Liverpool vs Lyon gets underway at 7.45pm tonight.
