Rumour Mill: Heskey to Liverpool rumours resurface

Liverpool have once again been linked with a move for England international Emile Heskey after the former Reds striker revealed he could be looking to leave Aston Villa.

Rafa Benitez was linked with a move for Heskey during last January’s transfer window with the departure of Robbie Keane imminent.

Keane eventually re-signed for Tottenham, but Heskey left Wigan Athletic for Villa in a move worth around £3.5million.

Reports suggest Benitez is tempted by a £1.5million move for Heskey to bolster Liverpool’s attacking options, with only Fernando Torres, David Ngog and Andriy Voronin as recognized strikers at the club.

However, Heskey has also been linked with a move back to Wigan with Latics chairman Dave Whelan hinting at a possible move for the 31-year-old.

He said, “I thought he was fantastic for us. He’s such a wonderful target man. Everybody in football would like Emile somewhere in their squad. We could well be [interested in re-signing him].”

Meanwhile Germany striker Miroslav Klose sparked up speculation linking him to the Reds today when he said he likes to watch the Reds in action.

The 31-year-old Bayern Munich striker told FourFourTwo magazine, “I have two teams that I follow with pleasure and curiosity.

“In England, it is Liverpool and in Italy, I like the Inter of Jose Mourinho, who I consider to be a great coach.”

However the German international also said he is happy at Bayern Munich and intends to stay with the Bundesliga giants.
