Babel waiting for luck to come along

Liverpool winger Ryan Babel says fortune isn’t on the Reds’ side right now as they go looking to get out of a nine game slump which has seen them win only once in that time.

Babel, who played the last few minutes of Holland’s 0-0 draw with Italy at the weekend, says the Reds really should have won last Monday’s 2-2 draw with Birmingham City at Anfield.

He said, “If you analyse the last game, we had enough chances to win by three or four goals and we failed to score more than two,” said Babel.

“In the end we drew and I think maybe just that little bit of luck isn’t there.

“And we still have confidence we can get through in the Champions League. Maybe it’s not the best situation, but we still have a chance to qualify so we have to go for it.”

Babel also rubbished suggestions he is looking for a January transfer window way out of Anfield, declaring, “Liverpool are a very good team, everybody knows that, and I am proud to be part of Liverpool.”
