The academy graduate recently signed a new contract until 2013 and made his first team debut at Arsenal in the League Cup in October, having made the move to Melwood last summer. He was named in the Reds Champions League squad this season.

Last season Liverpool defender Martin Kelly spent a successful loan spell at the Yorkshire club, who have former Red Terry McDermott as their assistant manager. They are sitting nicely just outside the play off places in League One with a couple of games in hand.

Eccleston is top goalscorer for the Reds reserves this season and earlier this month Rafa Benitez praised the 19 year old forward, “He is doing well with the reserves. He has quality but the main thing is he keeps working hard because with his talent he can be a player.”
