Torres injury latest

Liverpool will be forced to wait anxiously on test results on Fernando Torres’ knee injury, which kept the Spanish striker out of today’s goalless draw with Fulham at Anfield.

Despite scoring twice in Thursday’s Europa League 4-1 romp over Benfica, Torres continued to struggle with the knee problem and underwent tests this weekend.

Reds boss Rafa Benitez told press, “He has a problem with his knee. He’s gone to see a specialist and we are waiting for news.

“We don’t know yet. It depends on what the specialist says tomorrow. He had a problem before and we were trying to protect him.”

Update: Monday afternoon

LFC statement: “Fernando Torres was examined by a knee specialist this afternoon in Spain. He received treatment and will continue to do so over the next few days, with the injury being reassessed later this week.”

Liverpool next face West Ham in the Premier League a week on Monday, live on ESPN.
