Liverpool are ready to launch a £12million bid for Nice striker Loic Remy, according to reports in this morning’s press.

Remy, a French born attacker of Martiniquais descent, is Nice’s most expensive ever signing when he was bought from Lyon for €8 million in 2008.

Remy fell out with Nice supporters last year when it was reported that several frustrated Nice supporters spat on Remy and his teammates. He had been expected to leave the club in January 2010’s transfer window.

New Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson is hoping to secure Remy’s signature ahead of Tottenham, who are also chasing the 23-year-old.

The Reds have also been linked with Manchester City defender Micah Richards in the past few days.

And that’s about it for transfer rumours this morning – quiet day. But Liverpool will learn who they play in their Europa League third qualifying round tie later today, when the draw is made at UEFA Headquarters in Nyon. The draw gets underway at 12.30pm.
