Liverpool have signed former Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole on a four-year deal.

The England international will undergo a medical at Anfield tomorrow and complete his move, reported to be worth a total of £13million.

Cole left Chelsea this summer after his contract at Stamford Bridge. He was the subject of interest from both Arsenal and Tottenham too, but opted for a move to Merseyside.

The 28-year-old began his career at West Ham, coming through their youth academy system and making 126 league appearances for the Hammers before a switch to Chelsea following West Ham‘s relegation in 2003.

Cole has won 56 caps for England, scoring 10 times.

Cole is the second signing to arrive at Liverpool this summer on a free transfer after Serbian international striker Milan Jovanovic.

Welcome to Liverpool, Joe.
