Italian side Lecce have made a £1million bid for Liverpool’s young Hungarian striker Krisztian Nemeth, who has failed to make a break through to the Reds first team since joining from MTK Hungaria in 2007.
The 21-year-old spent last season out on loan at AEK Athens, scoring 3 times in 18 appearances, whilst Liverpool struggled with attacking options amid Fernando Torres’ knee problems.
Lecce hope Nemeth can help prevent them slip back down to Serie B after several years of being an Italian ‘yo-yo’ club.
Meanwhile Lucas Leiva, who has been the subject of a bid from Palermo, has been told by new Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson that he does have a future at Anfield.
Hodgson believes Lucas holds the quality to hold down his first team place at the club, with reports suggesting midfielder Javier Mascherano is almost certainly on his way to Inter Milan.
The club confirmed this morning that youngsters Francisco Duran and Nikolay Mihaylov have left the club after failing to make an impact. Mihaylov has signed a permanent deal with FC Twente in Holland, where he spent last season out on loan.
Former Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse last night looked to get his way back into English football, insisting he still has a soft spot for the Reds.
“At Sunderland I had a good time but I fancy coming back to Liverpool – that would be nice,“ he said.
“I like Arsenal because my friends are there, Manchester is nice, but my club is Liverpool.”

Birmingham City may have renewed their interest in signing winger Ryan Babel. The World Cup runner-up has been a target of Alex McLeish and reports in some tabloids this morning suggest the Brummies are tabling an £8million offer for Hodgson to consider.
And finally, there should be some news on Fernando Torres’ injury today as Liverpool’s medical team meet him in Madrid. So stay tuned to This Is Anfield throughout the day for the latest.
