Pepe Reina has ‘decided to stay’ at Liverpool

Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has decided to stay at Anfield, according to Spanish journalist Guillem Balague.

Balague, a close friend of former boss Rafa Benitez, wrote on his Twitter feed that Reina had decided to stay and “believes in the project” [that the Club have in place].

He added that Liverpool are looking to buy a left back, centre back, two wingers and a centre midfielder – areas which supporters can agree need strengthening this summer.

Of those positions listed, left back Jose Enrique is believed to be the number one target, centre back Gary Cahill, wingers Ashley Young and Sylvain Marveux and midfielder Charlie Adam are all on the radar, as well as French midfielder Yann M’Villa.

Reina had been linked with a move away from Anfield this summer following suggestions he would leave after 6 years at the club and just the one trophy to show for his impressive performances.

Ballague’s comments come after Reina himself appeared to announce his intentions to remain at Liverpool last week.
