No movement on Gerrard return

Kenny Dalglish says there has been no change to the return date of Steven Gerrard from injury, but indicated progress has been positive so far.

Gerrard was in hospital last week with an infection relating to the groin injury that has kept him out of action since March.

The club issued a statement suggesting Gerrard will be ruled out until around September, but journalists asked Dalglish for an update at a press conference at Melwood this afternoon.

He told the media, “Steven won’t be too far away. The tests that have come back are far better than what was anticipated, so we are delighted by that. We’ve had some very positive news and will just wait for the progress to continue.”

“We’ve had positive news but the return date the club has stated remains the same.”
