Reds were watching De Gea – Rafa

Former manager Rafael Benitez has explained how Man United goalkeeper David De Gea was a player Liverpool had watched in case Pepe Reina had left the club.

Speaking in his new autobiography Reina had described how he had come close to leaving Anfield on three occasions.

And Benitez, speaking on the excellent LFC podcast show The Anfield Wrap said De Gea was a player the club had in mind in case Pepe had left the club.
