Manchester City will be missing some key players when they face Liverpool in the League Cup semi-final first-leg on Wednesday.

Roberto Mancini is definitely without influential midfielder Yaya Toure and his brother Kolo after City failed in a bid to delay the duo’s departure to the African Cup of Nations.

They could also be without star player David Silva and have fitness doubts over forwards Mario Balotelli (ankle) and Edin Dzeko (knee).

Meanwhile, City captain Vincent Kompany will today find out if his appeal against a 4-match ban is successful, ahead of the match.

Update: Kompany’s appeal has been dismissed and he will now miss both legs of the semi-final.

To mark the end of the 30-year wait for a league title, the ‘Liverpool Mishmash’ poster is available to order exclusively on This Is Anfield — the history of the Reds in one image!
