Two ex-Reds return to Premier League on deadline day

Two former Liverpool players returned to the Premier League on the final day of the January transfer window.

Former Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse signed for QPR from Lazio for around £4m, while Soto Kyrgiakos signed for Sunderland on loan from Wolfsburg.

Cisse, who won the Champions League with the Reds in 2005, said he has “unfinished business in England”. The Lord of the Manor of Frodsham left Liverpool in 2006 for Marseille.

“QPR have a highly ambitious project. When I talked to the manager he spoke highly of the club and where he wants to take it over the next few years,” said the Frenchman. “He [Mark Hughes] wanted to sign me at Manchester City and now I’m finally here with him at QPR. I have unfinished business in England.”

Kyrgiakos meanwhile only left Liverpool last summer for German side Wolfsburg.
