With the Andy Carroll transfer saga now completed – for this summer at least – the attention turns to the other long running saga of this transfer window, that of Fulham’s Clint Dempsey.
The American forward has been subject of an enquiry from Liverpool earlier this summer and has even gone on strike in recent works in an attempt to force Fulham to lower their asking price and allow him to move to Anfield.
But now Fulham have accepted a bid from Aston Villa, believed to be around £7m, and Sunderland are also interested in the 29 year old.
Liverpool are believed to value the player less than £7m and therefore could now see their target move elsewhere unless they up their valuation.
Meanwhile, a new name has entered the radar this morning – Brazilian forward Leandro Damiao – currently at Inter Milan.
