Stoke City sign Charlie Adam from Liverpool

Charlie Adam has joined Stoke City from Liverpool for a fee believed to be around £4m.

The Scottish midfielder arrived at Anfield last summer but has failed to impress, despite making 35 appearances under Kenny Dalglish last season.

Adam arrived from Blackpool for £7m (a fee which could have risen to nearer £9m in performance related bonuses) and was reportedly earning £50,000 per week at Anfield.

Holding a reputation for set-pieces the 26 year old unfortunately failed to deliver and frustrated supporters. The arrival of Brendan Rodgers signalled the end of his Liverpool career, not featuring in any of the opening Premier League fixtures this season.

Adam leaves Liverpool after a total of 37 appearances and two goals.

Meanwhile, fellow midfielder Jay Spearing has joined Bolton Wanderers on a season loan.

Best of luck to Charlie and Jay.
