Tuesday’s LFC transfer rumours: Dempsey move all-talk, Spearing out?

The speculation linking Fulham striker Clint Dempsey continue to rumble on, but there’s no move from Liverpool on the table.

Today, Dempsey’s international teammate and former Cottager Brian McBride has backed the 29-year-old to do well at Anfield.

He said, “Clint’s not only got the talent and the ability, but he’s a very determined individual. He adapts extremely well to so many different situations.

“Take Fulham. He’s had four or five different coaches but he’s always put his head down and shown them what he’s made of. I think that’s a sign not only of a very good player but one who is able to adapt and make the transition regardless of who the manager is.”

However, as we reported yesterday, Fulham boss Martin Jol has confirmed there have been no offers for Dempsey, and is still hopeful on keeping the American at Craven Cottage.

Meanwhile, the Mirror and several other media outlets report today that Reds midfielder Jay Spearing has attracted the eye of Bolton boss Owen Coyle.

The Championship side lost their first game of the new season away at Burnley on Saturday and are looking to boost their midfield options.

Spearing could be available on a loan deal with a view to making the move permanent after being left out of Brendan Rodgers’ first Premier League squad at the weekend, and the arrival of Joe Allen to the club.
