Video: Hearts 0-1 Liverpool – Watch the deciding (own) goal here

FT Hearts 0-1 Liverpool
Europa League Play-Off Round, First Leg
Thursday, 23rd August 2012
Tynecastle, Edinburgh (Scotland)

Match Summary

A second half own goal from Hearts defender Andy Webster was the difference between the two sides as the Reds took control of the first leg of this Europa League play-off round tie.

Webster indadvertedly put the ball into his own net from a wicked Martin Kelly cross that had even passed the lurking Reds striker Fabio Borini.

Borini had earlier missed a glorious opportunity to put the visitors ahead just before half time when youngster Raheem Sterling unselfishly set him up for a simple one-one-one finish, but his effort hit the post.

It was a strong performance from Hearts in front of a packed Tynecastle stadium, but their efforts weren’t enough to get a result and Liverpool go into next week’s second leg at Anfield one goal to the good.
