News broke last night that Liverpool had completed negotiations with Chelsea forward Daniel Sturridge‘s representatives and that the player would be arriving on Merseyside to have his medical on Sunday.
Liverpool have agreed a fee for Sturridge, believed to be £12m, ahead of a move that will be completed when the transfer window re-opens on January 1st.
BBC Sport report the player has agreed terms on a 60,000 per week contract. While several media outlets, including The Telegraph, report the deal could be announced imminently.
The 23 year old will add much needed attacking options to Brendan Rodgers’ squad. Interestingly, Rodgers hinted to supporters at a fans meeting on Friday that Luis Suarez’s future lies as a creative wide or number 10 player – meaning Sturridge could be used in the central role he has yearned for at Chelsea but never been given.
Sturridge is expected to be joined by Thomas Ince in the January transfer window as Liverpool seek to correct their failings in the August window – when they attempted to sign Sturridge on loan.
