Luis Suarez is “Bayern’s Lewandowski alternative”

The Sunday Telegraph is reporting increased speculation around a possible move for Luis Suarez by German Bundesliga Champions, Bayern Munich.

Despite winning the Bundesliga this season, being in the final of the DFB Pokal and having one foot in the final of the Champions League, this summer is being seen as one of transition for the Bavarian outfit.

Pep Guardiola is stepping into the managerial hot seat and has already acquired the services of young German prodigy Mario Gotze from fierce rivals Borussia Dortmund, taking advantage of a huge buy-out clause in his contract.

Now The Telegraph say Bayern are looking to bolster their front line options and are becoming resigned to not signing Dortmund’s Robert Lewandowski, who scored four times against Real Madrid in midweek.

They write:

Bayern Munich are expected to make a move for Liverpool’s Luis Suárez with the Germans increasingly resigned to missing out on Robert Lewandowski to Manchester United.

The transfer merry-go-round could be about to swing into a big full motion due to Bayern’s imminent big money spending spree. The likes of Lewandowski and Manchester Utd’s Wayne Rooney have been reported to be on the move this summer as well, which could have a knock-on effect for teams like Liverpool.

Should Bayern Munich look into the purchase of Suarez, who is banned for 9 more domestic games in English football, it would leave Liverpool looking for a big name replacement.
