Luis Suarez “to stay at Liverpool, will sign new contract”

Luis Suarez will stay at Liverpool and sign a new contract with the club, according to Martin Charquero of GolTV Latin American.

The 26-year-old Uruguayan international is currently on international duty with Uruguay, due to play in Wednesday night’s friendly against Japan at the Miyagi Stadium in Rifu.

The Mirror translate that Charquero says, “Luis Suarez confirms to me he will not leave Liverpool. The support of the fans has influenced his decision.”

“Suarez see it as likely that he’ll sign a renewal (extension) to the contract that binds him to Liverpool.”

If true, the news and contract signing will put end to a summer of transfer saga, who had previously made clear his intention to leave Liverpool for Premier League rivals Arsenal.

However, Liverpool’s reluctance to let the forward leave Merseyside seems to be holding firm and Suarez may have to accept a new deal at Anfield.

He is most likely to agree to signing a new deal at Liverpool that allows him to leave in the summer of 2014 with a buy-out clause, which he has falsely claimed was in his current contract.

Brendan Rodgers will now hope Suarez can be part of his plans to regain Liverpool’s position in the Champions League.

Of course, if this news is true, be prepared for the most spectacular of PR stunts from Suarez and Liverpool Football Club to get the fans back onside of Suarez.
