Liverpool’s unbeaten start to the season ended at the hands of Mauricio Pochettino’s impressive Southampton side on Saturday as they were beaten 1-0 at Anfield.

Dejan Lovren rose above Daniel Agger early in the second half to score the only goal of a game in which Liverpool rarely mounted any real attacking presence.

It is a blip on an otherwise good year for Brendan Rodgers’ men, who’s previous defeat to today was at the hands of the Saints at St Mary’s earlier in the year.

There was a total of three different centre-back partnerships throughout the game, with Kolo Toure, Martin Skrtel, Daniel Agger and Mamadou Sakho all starting across the back for the Reds.
