Liverpool FC Transfer Deadline Day — How it happened

We ran a liveblog on transfer deadline day. Read how the day unfolded below.

And that’s the transfer window closed. An uneventful day for Liverpool with only Sebastian Coates and Oussama Assaidi going out on loan for the season, but a great summer. We leave you, as ever, with this:

20 minutes of the transfer window left open and all of Liverpool’s activity seems to be done. Fabio Borini, Lucas Leiva and Suso all remain Reds players until at least January, despite the speculation. We’ll be here until the window closes though.

Liverpool’s Oussama Assaidi returns to Stoke City on loan

It’s probably just confirmation of Assaidi’s loan move to Stoke that we’re waiting for now. Just over an hour until the deadline.

Arsenal have reportedly agreed a £16 million deal to sign Man United‘s Danny Welbeck. £16 million. That’s the same price Liverpool paid for Mario Balotelli.

Two hours of this left, thanks for sticking with on quite a non-eventful day. Let us know your thoughts on Fabio Borini STAYING at Liverpool and what role he will/won’t play in the comments section below or on Twitter using the hashtag #TIAdeadlineday.

With Fabio Borini’s move to QPR off, it looks as if Oussama Assaidi to Stoke is the only Liverpool-related transfer activity left to be decided this summer. Just under 2.5 hours until the deadline.

If you’re just joining us, Sebastian Coates has joined Sunderland on loan and Fabio Borini is in negotiations with QPR after they agreed a £12 million fee with Liverpool. Oussama Assaidi could yet join Stoke City too.

Has Fabio Borini’s proposed move to QPR hit a snag?

Still the possibility of Ousamma Assaidi’s £1 million loan move to Stoke City going through, but negotiations are against time now as we enter four hours to go.

By the sounds of things, Fabio Borini to QPR may be the only piece of Liverpool action left in this transfer window. Or will there be a last minute twist?

Sebastian Coates leaves Liverpool for Sunderland on loan

CONFIRMED: Sebastian Coates joins Sunderland on loan until the end of the season. Deal done.

Nicely put…

Good luck to former Liverpool left-back John Arne Riise at his new club…

As reported earlier, Stoke could be taking Oussama Assaidi on loan again. This from John Percy of The Telegraph:

And if you’re wondering why Borini would accept a permanent move to QPR when he reportedly refused to move to Sunderland, it may have something to do with where he wants to live, according to this Northern Echo journalist…

We’re still here. Expecting Sebastian Coates’ loan move to Sunderland to be confirmed shortly, whilst Fabio Borini’s proposed £12 million move to QPR could go down to the wire. The wire being the 11pm BST transfer deadline.

I expect Balotelli to do well. He’s older, more mature, more experienced. He’s better than the Balotelli we saw at City.
The business Liverpool have done with Suarez leaving, but the versatility Rodgers has brought in will give them that extra edge.

If you’re just joining us, things are fairly quiet this transfer deadline day.

Sebastian Coates looks set to join Sunderland on loan, whilst Liverpool are in talks to sign former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes.

“Lucas is a very important member of our squad and he is unfortunate not to be in [the matchday squad for the win at Tottenham]. I’ve not had anything through about him leaving but we will see how the next few days go.”

He’s back! But not for long…

Oussama Assaidi’s long-awaited Liverpool exit to Stoke City is being held up by the Moroccan’s ridiculous wage demands from the Potters, according to The Telegraph‘s Chris Bascombe.

Liverpool’s interest in former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes appears to be the only meaningful rumour of the day so far for the Reds, but as he’s a free agent, that deal wouldn’t necessarily need to be done today.
