Liverpool fans react to Chelsea defeat and performance

Liverpool slumped to their third defeat in a week at Anfield on Saturday lunchtime, with the same personnel and issues continuing to plague the Reds, who looked vulnerable defensively throughout.

Brendan Rodgers didn’t receive the vindication he looked for in his decision to recall the Reds’ ‘first choice’ players for the game, as his side once again reverted to the cluelessness in defence that was given a night off in midweek.

The high tempo and pressing Liverpool returned for a spell at least, and the Reds looked marginally more threatening going forwards than they have in recent games as Emre Can handed Liverpool the lead, but the uncertainty at the back from familiar faces once again proved the home sides undoing as they shipped goals from Gary Cahill and Diego Costa courtesy of some woeful defending.

There was frustration that the ‘first choice’ players reselected continued to disappoint, in particular Dejan Lovren and Glen Johnson:

After making changes that completely backfired, the Liverpool boss now finds himself under increasing pressure at Anfield.
