Liverpool’s opponents in the crucial Champions League game at Anfield on Tuesday night, Basel, have warmed up for the final group match with their fifth consecutive league win.

The Swiss side won 4-0 at Lucerne on Saturday and have conceded just one goal in those last five games, scoring 14 goals themselves. They certainly head to Merseyside in form.

Midfielder Matias Delgado scored twice for Paulo Sousa’s side whose only defeat in their last nine games was the 1-0 defeat to Real Madrid last time out in the Champions League.

Basel are eight points clear at the top of the Swiss Super League and go into Tuesday’s match two points ahead of Liverpool – meaning only a victory will see Brendan Rodgers’ side progress from Group B.
