With the games arriving fast over the festive fixtures, Rodgers shuffles his pack.

Emre Can, who came on at half-time at Burnley, makes his first start since November 8 when he scored against Chelsea.

Steven Gerrard drops down to the bench, while Spanish duo Javier Manquillo and Alberto Moreno start at wing-back – both have been unused subs in the last three games.

Gerrard is named among an attacking bench featuring Lazar Markovic, Mario Balotelli, Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini.

21-year-old Danny Ward is named among the subs, with Brad Jones ruled out with a thigh injury.

When the two sides met at Anfield earlier this season, Liverpool won 2-1 with two late goals from Mario Balotelli and Dejan Lovren. The Reds won the corresponding fixture last season 4-3.
