Europa League draw: Liverpool face Besiktas

Liverpool have been drawn against Turkish side Besiktas, setting up a return to Istanbul and the Ataturk Stadium – the scene of their 2005 Champions League victory.

Besiktas, who progressed along with Tottenham from their Europa group, are currently managed by Slaven Billic and have Demba Ba up front.

They won their group with three wins and three draws from their eight games.

The Reds will be at home in the first leg of the last-32 match, to be played on Thursday 19th February. The away leg will be a week later.

February looks like being a tough month of fixtures for The Reds.

The sides last met in the Champions League in 2007, when Liverpool inflicted a record 8-0 win at Anfield but lost 2-1 away.

Liverpool last won the competition, formerly the UEFA Cup, in 2001.
