Brendan Rodgers spoke of Daniel Sturridge‘s anticipated return from injury this month and the Steven Gerrard departure hype at his press conference to preview Sunderland v Liverpool this weekend.
Rodgers addressed a room of media at Melwood as Liverpool look to build on their FA Cup victory at Wimbledon on Monday night when they go to the Stadium of Light in the Premier League‘s 12:45pm kick-off on Saturday.
"He will be back into the country in the next 24 hours and he is into the final stages of that rehab," Rodgers said of Sturridge.
"He is a top-class player who has a wonderful idea of the game and wonderful qualities and if you put him into any team it makes them a better team – his pace is frightening, his touch, his movement…”
With press fishing for more quotes about Steven Gerrard’s departure from Liverpool this summer, Rodgers attempted to put an end to the issues.
"There is nothing any more to add," he added.
"Everything has been said on that situation that needs to be said.
"Steven spoke very openly and honestly with his feelings on it. When you see all the interviews you will find it was dealt with.
