Klopp was speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference at Melwood on Thursday, hours after arriving back in Liverpool following the Reds’ 1-0 victory at Sunderland on Wednesday night.
Liverpool go into 2016 off the back of two wins and with the chance to narrow the gap further on the Premier League frontrunners this weekend.
In terms of team news for the trip to east London, Klopp told reporters, “Maybe Daniel [Sturridge] can play if we try. [James] Milner and [Divock] Origi no.
“Joe Allen is ill. Yesterday afternoon the doctor told me we have to send him home so we have to wait for diagnosis there.
“I have no update now [on Jordan Henderson]. We have to wait a little bit because it was something with the heel but it could good for him we all hope. We have to see.
“Everybody knows Hendo is a real tough guy and yesterday he tried and then we saw it’s not perfect and so come on lets change. Now we have to wait a few hours more or a day or two and then we know more.”
West Ham v Liverpool gets underway at 12:45pm on Saturday, 2nd January and it’s live on BT Sport in the UK.
