“Today is a day for being angry” – Jurgen Klopp on 2-0 defeat at West Ham

Jurgen Klopp expressed his anger after Liverpool put in another spineless performance to lose 2-0 at West Ham.

This was an all too familiar display from a team carrying far too many mediocre players who refuse to stand up and be counted when the going gets tough.

Goals from Michail Antonio and Andy Carroll – both headers – gave the Hammers the three points. Liverpool were toothless in attack and far too many of the problems on show have been apparent for two years now.

“It’s no day for being disappointed, it’s a day for being angry,” Klopp told BT Sport post-match.

“We had the ball and possession and bad luck in a few situations – but that’s not what I want to see, to be honest. You have to be there in the decisive moments.

“We have to be better. We could have come back but we didn’t. Who wants to see 90 per cent? You can’t win a game with 90 per cent.

“You need more will than we did today. Two-nil – it’s deserved.”

File this performance under those against Crystal Palace, Newcastle and Watford in recent weeks – out muscled too easily against a quick and strong attack.
