Joining The Redmen TV at Liverpool’s home kit launch for 2016/17, Liverpool Ladies captain Gemma Bonner outlined her ambitions for the season.
The Liverpool Ladies have struggled for consistency so far in 2016, winning just once in five league games, currently sitting sixth in the league table.
Behind the likes of Man City, Chelsea and Arsenal, the Reds have much work ahead of them to final the campaign strongly.
But speaking to The Redmen TV’s Chris Pajak on Monday evening, Bonner remained optimistic that a new-look squad can get back to winning ways this season.
“It’s still early days, we’re a new team together and it’s going to take time,” she said.
“We’ve got a young squad, but an exciting squad at the same time.
“We’re performing well in games, but in parts, so the key thing for us is finding the consistency and getting the balance.
“We’re conceding a lot of goals, but we seem to be scoring a lot as well, so I think if we can get the balance hopefully we should be good come the second part of the season.”
Emma Lundh and Mandy van den Berg were among those to join the Liverpool Ladies ahead of the 2016 campaign, along with new manager Scott Rogers.
With Bonner signing a contract extension in November, Rogers has plenty of cause for optimism as he looks ahead.
As Bonner attests, it will take time for this young, new-look side to jell, but Merseyside can be hopeful of an improvement before the end of the season.
The kit is available to purchase now, with no pre-order, and Liverpool are offering free worldwide delivery until May 12th, plus a free £10 giftcard until May 31st.
