Rumour Mill: Mario Balotelli in talks to leave Liverpool for Chievo

Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli could be finally set to end his Anfield nightmare and join Serie A club Chievo, according to reports to Monday.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Chievo president Luca Campedelli has been in contact with the 25-year-old’s agent Mino Raiola with regards to a return to Italy.

The Serie A side are the latest club to be linked with signing Balotelli, following interest from Ajax, Galatasaray, Pescara and Crotone.

The report claims that talks are already at an advanced stage, with the Liverpool striker thought to have had dinner with Raiola last week, in order to discuss the transfer.

Campedelli has also spoken personally to Balotelli, although he has reportedly told him he would like time to consider his options.

It has been a disastrous Reds career for the Italian, who joined for £16million from AC Milan at the end of the 2014 summer transfer window.

He managed just four goals in 28 appearances, and was loaned back to Milan last season, where he found the net three times in 23 matches.

His attitude was poor under Brendan Rodgers, as has been the case throughout his unfulfilled career, and he never suited Liverpool’s style of play.

It has become abundantly clear that Balotelli has absolutely no future under Jurgen Klopp, with the former Man City striker not featuring at all in pre-season. He’s been training with the under-21s while the Reds’ first-team toured America.
