The 13 Liverpool players called up for international duty this October

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will be forced to contend with a number of high-profile absences as he continues training throughout the international break.

Klopp and his backroom staff will oversee work at Melwood through the two-week interval, but will be left with a depleted selection, with 11 first-team players and two loanees among those called up for duty.

This includes Jordan Henderson and Daniel Sturridge who were included in stand-in England manager Gareth Southgate’s 23-man squad for their World Cup qualifying clashes with Malta (October 8) and Slovenia (October 11).

England regulars Nathaniel Clyne and Adam Lallana miss out through injury, however, with the latter limping off after 21 minutes in the Reds’ 2-1 win away to Swansea City.

Headline attacking duo Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino were both called up by Brazil manager Tite, with the Selecao taking on Bolivia (October 6) and Venezuela (October 11).

Meanwhile, Simon Mignolet and Divock Origi, who have been reduced to marginal first-team roles under Klopp this season, are part of the Belgium squad.

Roberto Martinez’s side will take on Bosnia & Herzegovina (October 7) and Gibraltar (October 10), as they look to seal their place in the World Cup in 2018.

Georginio Wijnaldum, Sadio Mane and Ragnar Klavan have been called up by the Netherlands, Senegal and Estonia respectively.

Wijnaldum will play Belarus (October 7) and France (October 10), Mane will take on Cape Verde (October 8) and Klavan’s Estonia play Gibraltar (October 7) and Greece (October 10).

Loanees Danny Ward (Wales) and Lazar Markovic (Serbia) have also been included for fixtures against Austria (October 6) and Georgia (October 9), and Moldova (October 6) and Austria (October 9), respectively.

Elsewhere, Marko Grujic is part of the Serbia U21s squad for clashes with the Republic of Ireland U21s (October 7) and Slovenia U21s (October 11).

Dejan Lovren misses out on Croatia duty through injury, while Loris Karius and Emre Can were overlooked by Germany, but Ovie Ejaria (England U20s), Harry Wilson (Wales U21s) and Trent Alexander-Arnold (England U19s) are among the young stars to keep an eye on.
