Liverpool enjoy 5-0 friendly win during international break

Liverpool kept up their fitness with another friendly during the international break, beating Bradford City 5-0 on Sunday.

The last international break in September saw Jurgen Klopp host David Wagner’s Huddersfield Town at Melwood, while this fortnight saw another Yorkshire side head to Merseyside to provide the opposition.

With 17 first-team squad players back at Melwood during the international break, some through injury, Klopp was understandably keen to have a match scheduled to maintain fitness.

The match saw Danny Ings continue his goalscoring form, with two goals in the friendly following on from his hat-trick in his last outing for the under-23s.

James Milner converted another penalty, while Emre Can and youngster Yan Dhanda added their names to the scoresheet.

Goalkeeper Loris Karius took part in the game, while youngsters Rhian Brewster and Ben Woodburn also started.

Joel Matip and Lucas Leiva started at centre-back, but Mamadou Sakho and injured Dejan Lovren weren’t involved.

It’s reported also that the squad took part in a double training session on Saturday.

“We win the fitness, we win everything,” really is the motto at Melwood.

Liverpool XI: Karius, Milner, Matip, Lucas, Moreno, Stewart, Can, Chirivella, Woodburn, Brewster, Ings.

Sub used: Dhanda
