League Cup semi-final dates confirmed as Liverpool take on Southampton

The dates for Liverpool’s League Cup semi-final clashes with Southampton have been set, with the tie to be played over two legs.

The Reds drew Claude Puel’s side in the semi-finals after a 2-0 victory over Leeds United on Tuesday night, with the Saints playing at home first.

The first leg will take place at St Mary’s on Wednesday, January 11, kicking off at 7.45pm (GMT).

Southampton will then travel to Anfield for the second leg, to be held on Wednesday, January 25 and kicking off at 8pm (GMT).

The first leg takes place in the week following the FA Cup third round, while the second leg takes place after Liverpool’s home game against Swansea City on Saturday 24 January.

Liverpool travel to Old Trafford in the weekend following the first leg, making for a big month in January.

They’ll be without former Southampton man Sadio Mane for the two games, as he’ll be away at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Jurgen Klopp‘s side beat Stoke City on penalties in the semi final last year.
