Liverpool and Man United scout Porto midfielder Danilo in 7-0 win over Nacional

Liverpool were said to be among the clubs in attendance as Danilo Pereira helped FC Porto to a 7-0 win at home to Nacional on Saturday night.

Goals from Oliver Torres, Yacine Brahimi, Miguel Layun and braces from Andre Silva and Soares sealed an emphatic victory for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side at the Estadio do Dragao.

Porto moved further away from the chasing pack in second, remaining a point behind Primeira Liga leaders Benfica with 10 games left to play.

The biggest win of Porto’s season, this was a statement performance from the challengers, despite the lowly status of their opponents.

And according to Portuguese publication A Bola, a host of scouts from top clubs were present to watch the Dragoes, and namely defensive midfielder Danilo.

Danilo played 66 minutes on Saturday night, producing a comfortable display in the middle of the park, before being replaced by Diogo Jota, with his side already 5-0 up.

He is said to have been watched by scouts from Liverpool and Man United, with Kaiserslautern, Montpellier, Nice, Sevilla and Trabzonspor also looking on.

Porto are preparing to sell a host of their big-name players in the summer, and Danilo could depart for a big-money fee.

Jurgen Klopp is believed to be in the market for another midfielder in the summer transfer window, with RB Leipzig’s versatile Naby Keita reported to be on the Reds’ radar.

They could be expected to renew their interest in Borussia Monchengladbach youngster Mahmoud Dahoud, too, though he has been linked with a move to Klopp’s former club, Borussia Dortmund.

A move for Danilo would be feasible, with the 25-year-old possessing the qualities Liverpool require in the middle of the park.

The ex-Benfica and Parma midfielder is a tall, strong, physical talent who typically operates in the holding role, and boasts an impressive work rate, great fitness and a high recovery pace.

He is also capable of keeping possession in a fierce midfield battle and completed 87.8 percent of his attempted passes against Nacional.

Klopp already has Jordan Henderson, Emre Can, Lucas Leiva and Kevin Stewart as options in the engine room, but the Liverpool ranks will require bolstering ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.

Whether this reported scouting mission results in a move is unclear, but Danilo would be a fine target for the Reds.
