Liverpool’s crucial final-day clash with Middlesbrough scheduled for TV broadcast

Liverpool’s all-important home clash with Middlesbrough on Sunday has been chosen as part of Sky Sports’ final-day Premier League coverage.

The top-four race is set to go down to the wire, with Liverpool battling it out with Arsenal and Man City for the final two Champions League places.

With both the title fight and the relegation battle settled, with Chelsea lifting the trophy and Hull City, Middlesbrough and Sunderland dropping out, there is little else to play for.

As a result, Sky Sports have opted to broadcast both Liverpool and City’s 3pm kickoffs (BST), against Boro and Watford respectively.

This was confirmed by the Premier League on Tuesday night, following City’s 3-1 victory over West Brom and Arsenal‘s 2-0 win at home to Sunderland.

Liverpool head into the weekend fourth in the table, two points behind City and a point above Arsenal, needing a win at Anfield to guarantee a top-four finish.

They could still finish third, depending on City’s result at Vicarage Road, and remarkably could face an unprecedented play-off against either Arsenal or City.

By the end of the season, the Reds will have had 29 of their 38 Premier League games broadcast on UK TV, which is a record for a club in a single campaign.
