Liverpool overcame Middlesbrough to qualify for the Champions League last weekend, and the club has released its latest ‘Inside Anfield’ video to show how the day unfolded.
It proved to be a nervy but ultimately very happy occasion on Sunday, with the Reds’ 3-0 win earning them a priceless fourth-place Premier League finish.
Goals from Gini Wijnaldum, Philippe Coutinho and Adam Lallana got Liverpool over the finish line, with Wijnaldum’s opener easing the tension just before half-time.
As always, ‘Inside Anfield’ gives a brilliant look at the day as a whole, starting off with both the supporters and team bus arriving at Anfield.
The players look in pensive mood as they head out for their pre-match warm-up, in arguably the most pressurised game of Jurgen Klopp‘s tenure to date.
With George Sephton belting out the tunes as always, the atmosphere builds, and Steven Gerrard presents Sadio Mane with his Player of the Year award before kick-off.
Once the action is underway, we are treated to wonderful footage of Wijnaldum’s strike, from low down at the Kop End. It gives a great taste of the noise inside Anfield.
Coutinho is then shown whipping home his deadly free-kick and wheeling away in celebration, before more excellent footage shows us Lallana’s strike from high up in the Main Stand.
With the match done and dusted, Lucas is given a special award by Kenny Dalglish, having given 10 years of service at Liverpool.
The players partake in the customary end-of-season lap of honour with their families, with “You’ll Never Walk Alone” blaring out, finishing off a great afternoon on Merseyside.
