Liverpool ‘reject £1 million bid’ from Derby County for Andre Wisdom

Out-of-favour defender Andre Wisdom is the subject of Championship interest this summer, but Derby’s opening bid is turned down by Liverpool.

Having spent the 2016/17 season at Red Bull Salzburg, it could easily have been a case of out of sight, out of mind for Wisdom with regards to English clubs.

But one former side of the defender’s hasn’t forgotten: Derby, where Wisdom spent the 2013/14 season on loan, are looking now for a permanent deal.

The Telegraph report boss Gary Rowett as keen to sign the versatile defender, but his opening bid has been turned down. Birmingham are also listed as interested.

Liverpool are said to want at least £2 million for Wisdom, who signed a contract extension in 2015.

He has not, however, featured for the Reds since 2013, being out on loan since then at Derby, West Brom, Norwich City and RB Salzburg, where he won the Austrian Bundesliga and Cup last term.

Despite enjoying the 16/17 season on a personal and team level—TIA ranked him second among the loan stars of the club—it is unlikely he has a future at Anfield under Klopp.

Wisdom has played 22 times for the Reds’ first team, scoring once.
