Liverpool ‘enquire’ over £55 million Thomas Lemar deal

Liverpool have reportedly made an enquiry for Monaco attacking midfielder Thomas Lemar, for a club record £55 million deal.

The 21-year-old French international plays predominantly on the left, but can also play on the right of the front three or operate centrally as an attacking midfielder.

The Telegraph cite sources in France, claiming the move wouldn’t be linked to the future of Philippe Coutinho.

Liverpool fans though perhaps shouldn’t get their hopes up on this transfer rumour, with the report also saying that Monaco – who have seen a host of stars depart this summer – are not willing to sell Lemar during this transfer window.

Lemar has previously been linked with Arsenal and Chelsea.

With Liverpool having Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah as their wide options in attack, Jurgen Klopp could seek another wide player to ensure he has three options for when fixtures pile up, and isn’t reliant on the two alone.

Lemar scored 12 and assisted 17 goals in all competitions last season for Monaco.

With the transfer window closing on Thursday, and Liverpool having assured their place in the Champions League last week, it could be an interesting few days at Anfield.
