Confirmed Liverpool lineup vs. Huddersfield: Lovren retained as Klopp makes 2 changes

Jurgen Klopp has made two changes to his Liverpool lineup for Saturday’s pivotal Premier League clash at home to Huddersfield Town.

Klopp faces off against his best man, David Wagner, in the dugout at Anfield, as the Reds take on newly promoted Huddersfield for the first time in a competitive game since 1999.

That season, under Gerard Houllier, saw Liverpool struggle for form in the early stages of the campaign, languishing in 12th after their first nine games.

And Klopp finds himself in a similar situation, in ninth, but will be hoping his side can emulate Houllier’s, who finished fourth in 1999/00 after turning their form around.

Having lost 4-1 away to Tottenham last time out, Klopp has making just two changes to that lineup from Wembley.

Simon Mignolet takes his place between the sticks, behind a back four of Joe Gomez, Joel Matip, Dejan Lovren and Alberto Moreno, with Klopp showing faith, questionably, in Lovren.

In midfield, Jordan Henderson is joined by James Milner and Georginio Wijnaldum, with the latter returning from injury as Emre Can drops to the bench.

And up front, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino will provide support for Daniel Sturridge, who replaces the injured Philippe Coutinho.

On the substitutes’ bench are the likes of Can, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Dominic Solanke, giving Klopp strong options to change the game if required.

Liverpool: Mignolet; Gomez, Matip, Lovren, Moreno; Henderson, Milner, Wijnaldum; Salah, Firmino, Sturridge

Substitutes: Karius, Klavan, Robertson, Grujic, Can, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Solanke

Huddersfield: Lossl, Smith, Hogg, Mooy, Lowe, van La Parra, Williams, Depoitre, Ince, Zanka, Schindler

Substitutes: Green, Malone, Kachunga, Cranie, Quaner, Mounie, Hadergjonaj
