Liverpool trained at Melwood on Wednesday morning with Jurgen Klopp facing no major injury problems ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash with Burnley.
The Reds welcome Sean Dyche’s relegation candidates to Anfield for a midday kickoff this weekend, looking to improve on their 0-0 draw in the Merseyside derby last time out.
That result can be considered a setback, but Klopp’s side remain just one point behind Man City in the race for the title, though this could be extended to four by the time they take to the field on Sunday.
City play Watford on Saturday evening, with Liverpool hoping for a favour from the side they thrashed 5-0 a week ago, but the champions are on a run of eight consecutive victories.
Regardless, Klopp can only continue to focus on his own affairs, and this saw the Reds undergo both indoor and outdoor training on Wednesday.
In positive news, the majority of Klopp’s key players took part, though neither Alberto Moreno or James Milner were pictured with the squad.
Milner was revealed to be suffering with a minor hamstring injury ahead of the clash with Everton, but still came off the substitutes’ bench to play the final 27 minutes as Liverpool pushed for a win.
Meanwhile, Moreno has not made the matchday squad for the past four league games, with Milner, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Rafa Camacho taking his place as full-back cover.
Roberto Firmino appears to have suffered no recurrence of his recent ankle injury, with the Brazilian part of the squad to applaud Simon Mignolet on his 31st birthday.
Nat Phillips, Ben Woodburn, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Rhian Brewster all stepped up their recovery, as they joined full training on the pitch outside.
Ki-Jana Hoever and Curtis Jones ran separately, however, after both starting in the U23s’ 2-0 defeat to Everton on Monday night.
The hope will be that the squad suffers no further injuries prior to Sunday’s clash, and there is still plenty of time for both Moreno and Milner to return to the fold as Liverpool look for their 22nd league win of the season.
