Burnley 0-3 Liverpool

Premier League, Turf Moor
August 31, 2019

Goals: Wood OG 32′, Mane 36′, Firmino 80′

Liverpool came into the game needing a win to regain the lead in the fledgling Premier League table and started very much on the front foot.

Plenty of possession wasn’t always matched by chance creation, but the Reds were clearly dominant throughout and the end result was justified.

Trent Alexander-Arnold sent over a cross which was deflected by Chris Wood, looping over the keeper and into the net for a surprising, but welcome, route to the opening goal.

It was pure Liverpool for the second, though; an interception on a defensive slip, a quick transition and Roberto Firmino freeing Sadio Mane to roll home the second.

After the break, the Reds spurned a couple of chances before Roberto Firmino finished the scoring with a fine low drive, 10 minutes from the end.

Adrian made a couple of saves along the way to ensure a first clean sheet of the season, as the Reds made it four straight wins.

Divock Origi, Xherdan Shaqiri and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain made appearances off the bench and the Reds head into the international break in great form.
