Liverpool 2-1 Tottenham

Premier League, Anfield
October 27, 2019

Goals: Henderson 52′, Salah pen 75′; Kane 1′

The Reds hosted Mauricio Pochettino’s team, looking to bounce back from their first dropped league points of the season last weekend.

Liverpool couldn’t have made a worse start to proceedings, with Harry Kane heading home in front of the Kop inside the first minute after Heung-min Son’s effort deflected off the woodwork.

The Reds then dominated the rest of the first half, but were left frustrated as a combination of goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga and poor finishing saw the score remain 1-0.

Klopp has instilled a remarkable winning mentality in his players, though, and they never panicked at any point.

Jordan Henderson responded from a poor first half to equalise with a smart finish after the break, leading to a tense remainder of the game.

Mohamed Salah fired home the winner from the penalty spot after 75 minutes, after the unplayable Sadio Mane was brought down by Serge Aurier.

Liverpool managed to ride out a late storm from Spurs, with Alisson making important stops in the dying minutes, as the Reds secured a priceless win.

Their lead over Man City is back to six points, ahead of next Saturday’s trip to Aston Villa.

A League Cup clash at home to Arsenal comes before that on Wednesday evening, however, allowing Klopp to make changes to his personnel.
