Klopp’s pre-Huddersfield Injury Update
Liverpool have a fairly clean bill of health ahead of the Huddersfield game, although there are question marks over three individuals.
Fabinho suffered a head injury against Cardiff last weekend, Dejan Lovren has been ill and Adam Lallana has struggled with a muscle issue.
Speaking ahead of the match, Jurgen Klopp admits he is unsure about the involvement of the trio, in what is a must-win clash at home to the Terriers:
“[They’re] all a bit questionable, we don’t know exactly in the moment. We will have to see today.
“We gave them all a proper rest. Dejan trained yesterday so that’s OK probably and the other two we will see.”
Klopp also confirmed that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is progressing well, saying: “Ox trained, all good.”
Sturridge’s A-League Offers
Daniel Sturridge is being closely monitored by several A-League sides, according to Fox Sports Executive Producer Murray Shaw.
The 29-year-old is expected to leave Liverpool this summer, having fallen out of favour under Klopp and not started a game since January.
Brisbane Roar, now managed by Robbie Fowler, are supposedly the most likely to acquire the striker’s signature, with Shaw stating that numerous clubs are interested:
“One name I will throw up, and I know this player has already been offered to several A-League clubs already, is Daniel Sturridge,” said Shaw, on the Fox Football Podcast.
“I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the phone call is made from Robbie Fowler to bring someone like Daniel Sturridge down as a marquee next season.”
Injuries have cruelly hampered Sturridge’s career since his superb 2013/14 campaign and a fresh challenge abroad, in a slower league, may make sense.
Klopp Hails “Brilliant” Mignolet
Simon Mignolet was recently lauded by James Milner for the impact he is having off the field, despite playing just twice this season.
Klopp is the latest to heap praise on the Belgian, saying there is no better back-up goalkeeper in the Premier League:
“It’s no problem to speak about it but it’s a shame we have to. We only have a first XI. The quality in training when all the boys are fit is incredible.
“I like really that Milly picked Simon. I’m sure he thinks of himself as a number one but he’s the best No.2 in the Premier League.
“He has improved in the last year because of his professionalism and his attitude. It’s just brilliant. I’m not in the dressing room constantly but when Milly says something it is 100% true.
“I’m happy having this quality.”
Leipzig Weigh Up Camacho Bid
According to Football Insider, Bundesliga side RB Leipzig are considering a £10million bid for Rafa Camacho.
The 18-year-old looks set to leave Liverpool in the summer after failing to agree a new deal, but they won’t sell him for less than they value him.
Leipzig are reported to be “eager to beat” a number of clubs to Camacho’s signature, with Sporting CP and teams from France and Spain thought to be watching him.
The Portuguese has made two appearances for Liverpool this season, with his last showing coming late on at home to Crystal Palace in January.
Youth Cup Final Reminder
Liverpool U18s face Man City in the FA Youth Cup final this evening, on a huge night for Barry Lewtas‘ young side.
The Reds have enjoyed a superb campaign, seeing off Portsmouth, Accrington Stanley, Wigan Athletic, Bury and Watford on their way to the final.
They also have a great chance of clinching U18 Premier League glory, currently sitting two points clear at the top with a game in hand, with just two fixtures remaining.
The Youth Cup final clash is live on BT Sport 1 from 7.30pm (BST), with kick-off at the Academy Stadium in Manchester at 7.45pm.
